Privacy Policy for SkyWrite AI
Effective Date: March 28, 2026
Thank you for using SkyWrite AI ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how SkyWrite AI handles your data when you use our Chrome Extension.
1. Information We Collect and How It Is Used
SkyWrite AI is designed to operate locally on your browser and communicate directly with third-party Artificial Intelligence APIs. We do not own, operate, or maintain any personal servers that collect your data.
- API Keys & Settings: When you enter API keys (e.g., OpenAI, DeepSeek, DeepInfra, Tavily) or save preferences (like tone and length) in the extension settings, this data is saved locally in your browser using Google Chrome's native `chrome.storage.sync` API. We cannot see, access, or collect your API keys.
- Email Content & Prompts: To generate email drafts or replies, the extension must read the text you type into the SkyWrite prompt box, and (only when you click "Add Email Context") the content of the active email thread.
- Voice Data: If you use the voice-to-text feature, audio is processed directly through your browser's native Web Speech API. We do not record or store your voice.
2. Third-Party Data Sharing
Because SkyWrite AI is an interface for various AI models, the prompts and email context you choose to process are sent directly to the third-party provider you select in the extension's dropdown menu. We use the following third-party APIs:
- OpenAI: For GPT models.
- DeepSeek: For DeepSeek chat and reasoning models.
- DeepInfra: For open-source models like Llama and Mixtral.
- Tavily (Web Search): If you toggle the "Web Search" feature, your prompt is sent to Tavily to retrieve real-time web context.
Data transmitted to these services is governed by their respective privacy policies. SkyWrite AI does not act as a middleman; your browser makes these requests directly to the providers using your provided API keys.
3. Data Selling and Transfer
We comply fully with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies regarding User Data. We certify that:
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality (AI email assistance).
- We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
4. Required Permissions Justification
SkyWrite AI requests the following permissions for strictly functional reasons:
- storage: To save your API keys and UI preferences locally.
- activeTab & host permissions (*://mail.google.com/*): To inject the AI assistant UI into the Gmail interface and read the current email context when you explicitly request a reply.
- scripting: To seamlessly execute the user interface code within the Gmail web page.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page.
